This map isn't part of any series, but we have other featured maps that you might want to check out.
Pierre-Jean De Smet was a pretty somber looking dude who was a Belgian Jesuit who ministered to American Indians in the 19th Century.
He is credited with convincing Sitting Bull to accept the Treaty of Fort Laramie. I'm not exactly sure what the implications of this treaty were, but – being an astute observer of American history – I'm pretty sure we followed up on the promises of that treaty dutifully, and that it was a fair deal all-around.
The map has a certain charm to it. It also looks like a quilt.
