Worthington Gates' Los Angeles [gmap] is ambitious, frighteningly-detailed, and very pleasing.

A ultra high resolution version is downloadable here….be aware it is HUGE, over 221 million pixels. It is a JPEG2000 file, some PCs may not open that file format, and even if they do, may not be able to handle a file this large.
