An interesting map of the Union forces' Elmira, NY Prisoner of War Camp, made by Confederate prisoner David J. Coffman
Now I've not ever heard of any prisoner-of-war camp as having a reputation for being a nice place, but by most accounts this one must've been a real shithole. Around a quarter of the 12,000 confederate soldiers kept here died from malnutrition and exposure.
