Quite beautiful map of the mouth of the Mississippi River from New Orleans to Head of Passes.
Me and my buddy Seth got to go down there a couple years ago. Fulfilled a lifelong dream that had been started in me as a boy looking at the road atlas.
Had intended to make it all the way down to Pilottown [gmap], but as anyone who has ever tried can tell you: you can't drive to Pilottown, regardless of what any map tries to say. Asking about how best to do this nearly got us laughed out of Venice [gmap]. Still, all told, it was even better than I had thought it would be.
Then again, on that same trip, the following happened:
...which has caused me a lot of angst, even upon reflection, and even all these years later. It was quite vexing.
