Handsome, improbably-conical peaks; sinister, perpetually-erupting volcanoes; this was the type of thing I would look at for hours as a kid. There's just something about it.
Hell, if I would've found this particluar map as a kid, I might've gone out and learned French.
No mountains above 8000 meters? It seems they had a few mountains left to measure :-)
