This map is part of a series depicting the 40 largest cities in the United States (as ranked by CBSA). This series will run through the month of July.
This Elliott birdseye of Sacramento, California [gmap] is done in the straightforward, black-etched, local-businesses-around-the-collar style, and veers towards the forgettable.
But there's something there that makes it a bit more interesting than might be present at first glance. It may be that the layout of the city is one that is inherently interesting. In the hands of a more daring illustrator, there might be an amazing map made.
