This map is part of a series depicting the 40 largest cities in the United States (as ranked by CBSA). This series will run through the month of July.
Here's a handsome birdseye of Portland, Oregon [gmap].
I can't tell if the “pointalist” sort of feel in some of the details is from the texture, the technique, or a moire effect from the scan/photography. However it happened, it's working.
For more map resources and imagery from this period in Portland's history, check out the Oregon Historical Society's website.

Is the download link working for other people? I’m running into an error page …
Works fine, BC. Try a Right Click > “Save As”, or try another browser… some hardware/browser configs don’t particularly like a 27mb JPEG.
You’re right! It was a browser issue. Thanks for the assistance. :)
Wow! Thanks so much for sharing this high-quality scan. So much fun to “wander” around and see what’s gone and what is still here.
No problem; it’s my pleasure. Glad you enjoyed it.
I love learning about other cities. If you find anything cool, I’d love to hear about it.
Thanks for making this more well known.
