Anybody up for a Latin translation?:
Gvinea propia, nec non Nigritiæ vel Terræ Nigrorvm maxima pars : geographis hodiernis dicta utraq[ue] Æthiopia inferior, & hujus quidem pars australis / ex delineationibus Anvillianis itineri guineensi D. de Marchais insertis secundum leges projectionis stereographicæ Hasianæ designata & edita studio & labore Homannianorum Heredum. Norimb. cum privil. S.C.M. A. 1743 = La Gvinee de meme que la plus grande partie du Pais des Negres : appellées par les geographes modernes Ethiopie inferievre & meridionale / tirées des morceaux geographiques de Mr. d'Anville, qu'il a inseres au voyage du Chev. de Marchais, & puis desinées suivant les loix de la nouvelle projection de feu Mr. le Prof. Has, par les Heritiers d'Homan A. 1743.(looks like some French in there, too, but what do I know... I went to a State school.)
Well, I don’t have any Latin, but the French is: 1734= Guinea and most of the Negro Country: called by modern geographers Lower and Equitorial Ethiopia / taken from the geographic pieces of Mr. D’Anville, which he had included in the voyage of the Chevalier de Marchais, and then designed according to the new fire projection laws (?!) of the professor Mr. Has, by the heirs of Homan A. 1743.
Oh! Which I guess is a fair approximation of the Latin, too, now that I look more closely. ;)
Darn it, not being able to edit posts! That A. 1743 at the end would be better translated in the year 1743. There, I’m done, and will stop looking for errors in my own translation now. ;)
