The St. Louis Cardinals are the World Champions of baseball.
Anybody who's followed this blog for a while knows how much I A.) love the St. Louis Cardinals, and B.) how much I kind of despise the 1904 World's Fair, and the iron grip that it has on my city's imagination... but, well, what the hell. This is a pretty fantastic map.
I messed around with Google Earth's image overlay function just long enough to remember why I stopped doing that... but this image is absolutely begging for that treatment. So someone with more patience than I have in those areas is encouraged to give that a go... the results could be interesting.
I won't clutch pearls and wax on about how "I never gave up on the Redbirds" or any of that shit... they were toast, and then they weren't. It was a fun season.
(BTW, anyone who DIDN'T give up on the Narnies in late August shouldn't be bragging about it... this is a pet peeve of mine. That you didn't give up on them then doesn't make you a better fan... it means you weren't paying attention. THAT's how good of a comeback it was. I listen to 130 games a year and have for 15 years... I don't gotta justify shit to anyone. But... c'mon, y'all... don't play.)

Hi there, have you tried using Historic Earth on Historic Map Works website? (vs Google’s image overlay). It’s a great mashup of historic maps. Also, I just put a wonderful illustration up on our Facebook site from your despised fair….hope you can see it!
Thanks!
Bowen,
Never tried it. Can you link me to an example?
Kind regards, -t59K
