Here Fowler depicts the bustling city of Mannington, West Virginia [gmap] on the B&O railroad line.

Mannington, already a center for coal, timber, and leather production, fortuitously discovered oil and gas reserves in 1889; curiosity about the derricks you see dotting the landscape was what originally drew me to this print.
