What's up with the center chunk of the Champaign, Illinois [gmap] street grid? Did they lay a couple roads before they realized that the theodolite was broken and then just say ”Eh, leave that there, we'll just build around it.” And yeah, I see the Illinois Central tracks there, and I can see how you'd want orthogonal grade crossings, but at some point you gotta say ”well, I'll just make sure I always have new shocks and struts.”
