Aurora [gmap] is part of the Chicago metro area and is the second most populated city in the state of Illinois.
At the time that Brosius made this illustration, Aurora had a population of around 12,000. It's enjoyed healthy gains in each subsequent census, and has posted some monster gains in each of the past three. It now teems with nearly 200,000 people.
